The dataset contains continuous ultrasound measurements of size and categorical ultrasound assessments of tissue morphology for the plantar skin and plantar fat pad across four-foot regions (heel, lateral sesamoid, 2nd metatarsal head and 3rd metatarsal head) in both the unloaded and compressed states. Measurements and assessments of the plantar fat pad include the following anatomical layers: the superficial subcutaneous microchamber layer, the horizontal fibrous band, the deep subcutaneous macrochamber layer, the combined total tissue thickness. Continuous ultrasound measurements of size and categorical ultrasound assessments of tissue morphology of the following intrinsic foot muscles are also included: the extensor digitorum brevis muscle, 1st dorsal interosseous muscle, the combined 2nd dorsal and 1st plantar interosseous muscles, flexor digitorum brevis muscle, quadratus plantae muscle, 1st lumbrical muscle and 2nd lumbrical muscle. The measurement dataset also includes continuous measurements of peak plantar pressure and results of the Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument testing for peripheral neuropathy. The sample consisted of 115 participants of differing diabetes status and duration. ER -
