A survey on understanding preferences for irrigation pumps in West Bengal
This dataset is the output of a survey that aimed to gain a greater understanding of farmer preferences for irrigation pump sets in West Bengal, India. This survey was only for people who were involved in irrigated agriculture. By answering the questions in the survey, respondents helped the researchers understand farmer preferences relating to irrigation pump sets, with the aim of assessing current policies and potentially improving water access for farmers.
The survey consisted of four main parts. Part A contained questions regarding the respondent’s demographic and socioeconomic status. Part B included questions about the participants’ influence in their community and their farm and household decision making. Part C contained questions about pump sets for irrigated farming. Part D included questions to understand participants’ preference for pumps, i.e., the paired comparison experiment. The survey concluded with questions to ensure participants comprehended the study.
We hosted the survey with Sawtooth Software’s Lighthouse Studio, and the dataset is the output
